I don’t know about you but I’m embracing growing older. I don’t mind the gray hairs peeking through, or even the few lines presenting themselves but I still want my skin to be healthy and nourished. I may be okay with where I’m at in my life but I do appreciate an anti aging DIY face cream – who doesn’t?
Anti Aging DIY Face Cream
Although there are endless amounts of face creams you can purchase in the store I prefer a more natural solution to the needs of my skin. I’m one to enjoy making things from scratch as well and if you’re here reading this then you’re likely looking for a DIY recipe as well.

Know Your Skin & Essential Oils
I would recommend knowing what type of skin you have before making any homemade recipes so that you know ahead of time if any particular face cream recipe would be best for your type of skin. Also, when putting essential oils on your face – even in a carrier oil – you’ll want to make sure they’re the types of essential oils proper for the skin, especially since near your eyes.
…
Common EOs for the skin
Some essential oils are typically great for the skin on your face.
- Lavender
- Frankincense
- Geranium
- Sandalwood
- Blue Tansy
- Tea Tree
- Rose
- Clary Sage
- Ylang Ylang
Common Carrier Oils
With essential oils, you’ll want to pair them with a carrier oil to protect your skin from any oils that are too potent for direct skin contact. While yes carrier oils dilute the power of the essential oils on your skin they don’t take away from the benefits of whatever essential oils you’re using.
…
Common carrier oils below
- Fractionated coconut oil
- Jojoba
- Sweet almond oil
- Avocado oil
- Coconut oil (different than fractionated coconut oil)
- Rosehip oil
- Flaxseed oil

Some favorite essential oil recipes
Anti aging night cream
I’m a face cream kind of gal. I do love a serum but I need to include face cream either both during the day or just at night. I prefer face creams that I make out of ingredients I trust and can pronounce. If you’re like me and would like to make your night cream you’ll want to check out Our Oily House’s night cream recipe below.

Anti Aging Serum
Along with a face cream I also love the feel of a serum on my face. Preferably homemade you’ll love the recipe below by Simply Renee. She is a trusted source for essential oil education and recipes. You’ll love her anti aging serum below!

Natural Face Toner
A facial toner isn’t something I’ve used all my life but something I have been leaning on as I’ve taken more time on my skin care in my middle age. This natural toner by Root and Revel might just be right up your alley.

Quick and Easy Face Cream
What if you’re short on ingredients or time or maybe you just want an already made cream that you can drop your favorite essential oils into? I’ve done that with the recipe below. It’s fast and easy and a great way to dip your toe into making your own cream without the need of all the carrier oils and other ingredients.

Ready Made Cream
I have purchased the unscented body cream from Plant Therapy as my cream base that I add my EO’s to. This is what Plant Therapy says about the body cream “This body butter melts gently into your skin, leaving it silky soft and hydrated all day long. Perfect for all skin types, this luscious cream helps keep your skin glowing, looking smooth and healthy.” I love it on my face even though it’s labeled a body butter, which often people think of for other parts of skin other than facial skin. “Plant Therapy’s unscented body butter is the perfect base for creating your own personal essential oil DIYs.”
Essential Oils
I use and trust Plant Therapy for the oils I use on my skin. The wonderful joy of essential oils is you have so many to choose from depending on your needs, your skin, and what you want to get out of them. So while these oils listed below are what I personally use in my recipe they may not be what you want to use.
Research the many great essential oils for the skin and decide which would be best for your skin.
I’m switching my oils to organic when possible so that is what’s linked below but Plant Therapy also has non-organic oils which are just lovely for the body and diffusing as well.
- Organic lavender essential oil
- Organic blue tansy essential oil
- Organic frankincense essential oil

Tools for Making the Recipe
You’ll want some sort of jar on hand to make a small batch in. I also use makeup tools to mix it all together. You could technically make the whole body butter contain with the recipe but I prefer making smaller batches at a time. This also frees me up to play around with other oil combinations with the body cream.
These are the exact items I purchased and use for my face cream
Jars for the final face cream product
Stir stick for mixing up the body cream and essential oils
Plant Therapy on Amazon
And if you’re anything like me and like purchasing off Amazon then you can find Plant Therapy’s shop on Amazon below. I believe it’s a limited shop compared to their website but you can find oils etc.

Easy Face Cream Recipe
2 tablespoons of the body cream from Plant Therapy
Put into the jar you’ve purchased from Amazon OR any small jar you have on hand.
Grab your oils and stir stick
- 10 drops of frankincense essential oil
- 10 drops of lavender essential oil
- 8 drops of blue tansy essential oil
Purchase directly from Plant Therapy or using Plant Therapy on Amazon.
Simply blend the face cream and the oils together with the stir stick until well blended and use.
Simple as that!
The blue tansy will tint it blue and has a distinctive scent. If you don’t use blue tansy your cream will not be blue.
Wrapping it up
If you’d like to cut out some unnecessary chemicals and enjoy DIY’ing things then making your own anti aging DIY face cream will be a great place to start. Whether you use my simple hack of a recipe utilizing a ready-made more natural cream for your essential oil base of you make everything from scratch you’re sure to enjoy the process of using oils.
